SheCanServe

SheCanServe is a bold and inclusive leadership initiative by ReadyToLeadAfrica (RTLA) focused on inspiring, equipping, and supporting young women to actively participate in governance, politics, and civic leadership across Africa.

Rooted in the belief that sustainable democracy must be gender-inclusive, SheCanServe addresses the persistent underrepresentation of women in public decision-making spaces by building a pipeline of confident, competent, and community-focused young women ready to serve.

Objectives:

  • Increase the political participation of young women at local, state, and national levels.

  • Provide leadership development and capacity-building for aspiring female public servants.

  • Support female candidates through mentorship, visibility, and strategic communications.

  • Promote policy advocacy for gender-inclusive governance and youth-women quotas.

  • Create a supportive network and sisterhood of young women changemakers.

Program Features:

  • Leadership & Campaign Training: Hands-on workshops for women seeking to run for office or take civic leadership roles.

  • Mentorship Circles: Pairing young women with experienced female leaders in politics, civil society, and government.

  • Civic Education Sessions: Teaching rights, political processes, and institutional engagement.

  • Storytelling for Impact: Amplifying the voices, journeys, and success stories of women leaders.

  • Community Service Labs: Practical civic engagement projects led by participants.

Why It Matters:

Across Africa, women remain underrepresented in politics and governance, often facing social, economic, and cultural barriers. SheCanServe challenges these limitations by investing in women’s political agency and leadership capacity—proving that she not only can lead, but she can serve.
